A Medical Certificate, with a view to his retirement from the Service on Pension, I have now the honor to inform your ship that with the concurrence of the Executive Council I have granted to that Gentleman Six Months' leave of absence without Salary from the 10th Instant, as shown by the enclosed Certificate.
I beg to note that Mr Sower has served under the Colonial Government 2 years and 4 months to the 3rd January 1867; but as his absences during this period on half Salary have amounted in the aggregate to 4 years, 1 month, and 16 days, – half of which only counts for Pension, his Service must be within 1 year and 3 months. This term under the Pension Minute entitle him to a Pension of ⅙ of his annual Salary, or £200 a year. Should the Pension be granted, it will date from 10th Instant, the day on which his leave commenced.
